Emergency and Afterhours Services

We are not an emergency hospital but do set appointment blocks for urgent care every day.  In some cases when we are heavily booked, you may be asked to drop off your pet for triage.  Should we reach capacity for the day, we may refer you to the emergency hospital or offer a telemedicine appointment. We make every effort to see patients according to need and level of care. Priority is for made for existing patients of MVVH, but we will also see non-clients, space and resource permitting.

We are not staffed during the evening,  on Sundays and Stat Holidays.  For out-of-hours care,  please call 647 695-5411 to talk to a registered veterinary technician at no charge.  They will be able to advise you on the best course of action which may include facilitating a visit to the emergency hospital, setting up a telemedicine appointment with a veterinarian, or advising you to wait until we are open if the situation is deemed stable and not urgent.

If you are not sure it's an emergency, please always call to get advice.

You may also call Huronia Veterinary Emergency Hospital direct or proceed to the hospital.  Patients are seen at HVEC on a triage basis, very much like a human hospital.  During high-volume times, less urgent cases may encounter longer wait times at the ER as life-threatening cases will be prioritized
